CVE: A responsible digital approach with a new eco-designed website

CVE’s committed and responsible vision

As a renewable energy (RE) producer with a strong commitment to impact, CVE has redesigned its website with a responsible digital approach to reduce its carbon footprint. In alignment with our impact approach, we have optimized our website in order to consume less CO₂. This initiative is supported by all our teams and carried by the place we give to impact in every project we develop.

Our commitments as a B Corp-certified, mission-driven company

Today, the digital sector accounts for between 3% and 4% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This footprint could rise to almost 7% by 2025 if growth trends continue, notably due to the increase in connected equipment and the growing demand for data centers for energy-intensive data processing.

As a B Corp certified and mission-driven company, CVE has integrated the criteria of digital responsibility to redesign its website and minimize as much as possible the digital impact on its corporate website. Our goal is to align our digital tools with our impact approach.

Our 5 pillars for designing websites with a responsible digital approach

  • Sobriety: Technical optimization to reduce energy consumption, in accordance with RGESN criteria.
  • Utility: Improving the user experience by focusing on elements that add real value.
  • Ethics: Strict compliance with RGAA regulations for accessibility and RGPD for data confidentiality.
  • Architecture: Rationalization of content by deleting obsolete pages with no strategic value.
  • Design: Limiting superfluous visual elements to lighten graphics and reduce the weight of images and videos.

NumEcoDiag website evaluation

The new website will be analyzed by NumEcoDiag, the tool proposed by MiNumEco, the interministerial mission for eco-responsible digital, co-sponsored by DINUM (Direction interministérielle du Numérique – Services du Premier Ministre) and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

The tool is based on the 79 criteria of the RGESN (Référentiel Général d’Ecoconception de Services Numériques).

The analysis carried out by NumEcoDiag is declarative and in progress.

The “Before” analysis was carried out on the CVE group site on Monday 28/10/2024 between 6:30pm and 7pm, on a panel of 10 desktop pages considered to be main and common to both versions of the website after redesign.

It was carried out on a DELL PC using Windows 10, 16 GB RAM memory and a 64 Bits x64 processor.

It was carried out on the Chrome browser in its private, up-to-date version at the time of testing – Version 130.0.6723.70 (official Build) (64-bit).

The bandwidth at the time of analysis was 893.0 Mb/s.
